Astronaut Selection Weekend: Testing the Next Crew
Over the weekend of February 14th, Southeast Analog brought together ten astronaut finalists for an intense, hands-on selection experience. The goal was simple: see how each candidate performs in situations similar to what they might face during an analog mission.
Throughout the weekend, candidates tackled a variety of challenges that tested problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. From fast-paced exercises to group scenarios, every activity required focus, adaptability, and collaboration.
Astronaut training isn’t just about individual skills—it’s about learning to work together. Crews need to trust each other, communicate clearly, and stay composed under pressure. Experiences like this help build those skills and prepare participants for real mission environments.
More than anything, the weekend showed the effort and determination each candidate brought. Everyone pushed themselves and supported each other along the way.
